More donations needed for drought-stricken areas in the Free State

GLEN AUSTIN - Gift of the Givers volunteer, Roslyn Amanda Toontas, said more water is still needed to assist drought-affected areas in the Free State.

Toontas explained, “The supply is simply not enough, the project is ongoing. If you’ve read the news no one can be blind to the shortage of drinkable water in various areas throughout the country. We, therefore, ask for donations of money or of 5-litre water bottles, sealed for hygienic and logistics purposes.”

No refilled bottles will be taken as there could be a risk of contamination.

“Thank you to those who have already made donations including Jenny Boyd-Davison for mobilising the Southdowns College mums, and Kyalami Food Lovers for discounts provided on bottles purchased from cash contributions,” said Toontas.

If you wish to offer assistance or become involved, Toontas can be contacted on 083 446 0070 or e-mail rtoontas@mweb.co.za.

The delivery point is 72 Pretorius Road, President Park AH, Midrand.

Contributions can be made to Gift of the Givers, Standard Bank, Pietermaritzburg, branch code 057525, account number 052278611.
