It is alleged that when she revealed to them that she was headed in the same direction, the suspects offered her a lift from Le Roux Avenue in Vorna Valley on the morning of 10 January.
The complainant told Midrand police that the suspects, who were driving a grey BMW, then locked all the doors and, instead, drove towards Modderfontein Road.
Midrand police spokesperson, Constable Matome Tlamela, said the complainant also alleged that the suspects took her bank cards, stopped at an ATM and withdrew R300 from her bank account.
“It is also alleged that during the robbery, one of the suspects kept threatening the complainant with a knife when she refused to co-operate. Later the same day, the suspects took the complainant to her house where they ordered her to tell her domestic worker to bring a Toshiba laptop, Samsung S3 and more money to the gate,” added Tlamela.
The suspects took the laptop and money and fled the scene. No arrests have been made, but police are investigating the matter.
Midrand police said the community must be vigilant and avoid accepting lifts from strangers. Police also advised that if a stranger approached you asking for directions, you must try to avoid them. They added that residents should make sure they know how to make an emergency call; and if you are going out alone, get a lift from someone you know or to use a metered taxi.
