After Penny Sparrow’s tweet, where she referred to black South Africans as ‘monkeys’, Velaphi Khumalo posted his own rant on his Facebook page, stating that ‘white people in South Africa deserve to be hacked and killed like Jews’.
“I want to cleans this country of all white people. we must act as Hitler did to the Jews. I don’t believe any more that the is a large number of not so racist whit people . I’m starting to be sceptical even of those within our Movement the ANC. I will from today unfriend all white people I have as friends from today u must be put under the same blanket as any other racist white because secretly u all are a bunch of racist f**k heads. as we have already seen [sic],” Khumalo wrote.
A 21-year-old Cape Town resident saw the post and opened a case of crimen injuria against Khumalo, who was unapologetic for his comments but has deactivated his Facebook account.
It has been reported that the SA Jewish Board of Deputies will also lay a complaint against him with the SA Human Rights Commission, national director Wendy Kahn revealed in a statement.
The department has begun an internal disciplinary process against Khumalo due to his racist comments.
In a report published by News24, MEC of the department, Faith Mazibuko, stated that the department views the ‘hateful post by Velaphi Khumalo in a serious light’. “Our key mandate is nation building and social cohesion. His sentiments take our country backwards and do not reflect what the Gauteng provincial government stands for.
“The Gauteng provincial government views the hateful comments made by Velaphi in a serious light. We will not fight racism with racism.”
