Councillor James’ Christmas message

MIDRAND - Ward 112 councillor Candice James wished Midrand residents a wonderful festive season.

“Remember that during this season, love makes all things possible,” said James.

“I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and may God continue to bless us all next year. It has been an honour to have met many of you and served you to the best of my ability.”

She said she was looking forward to new encounters, challenges and many more resolved issues. “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much,” said James quoting Helen Keller.

The councillor said at this time of the year she is always able to look back and take an objective view at her office’s achievements and failures. “The reality of life is that the failures always outweigh the achievements. We still have many outstanding billing issues, faulty smart meter boxes, noise pollution, gravel roads, faulty traffic lights, streetlights not working and litter on streets, just to name a few.”

However, she said this is not what residents should feel at this time. “I want this [time to be] about appreciation,” she said.

“I appreciate the fact that we could have or should have resolved more issues, but without these individuals I am certain a lot less would have been achieved.” To that effect, James thanked individuals from the Johannesburg Roads Agency, Metro police, the police, the health department, City Power, the Community Policing Forum, the City of Johannesburg and her Ward 112 team.

“To my support team who I often never see, but are always supporting and pushing me to do more. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart, but for you, my heart has no bottom.”

She also thanked servicemen and women who will work at this time. “May God protect you and your families as you protect us,” said James.
