Reach for Recovery receives 50k cheque from Pink Polo

JOBURG – Non-profit organisation, Reach for Recovery was the grateful recipient of a generous cheque of R50 000 following the success of the inaugural Cell C Playing for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo charity event.

The handover took place on 3 December at the Inanda Club and was a result of funds raised at the Pink Polo match, which took place in October at the club.

Colleen Smith, a cancer survivor and chairman of the Gauteng South Johannesburg volunteer region for Reach For Recovery, expressed gratitude for the massive donation.

“We are overwhelmingly grateful for the generous cheque because we know how many breast cancer survivors we will be able to assist in getting much-needed breast prostheses,” she said.

“Thank you to Cell C, Samsung and Edith Unlimited for making it happen and we look forward to another year of the Pink Polo event.”

Smith explained that the funds would go exclusively towards the organisation’s Ditto project, which provided breast cancer survivors from lower income groups with breast prostheses following a mastectomy.

Also present at the handover were the main sponsors, Cell C, Samsung and Edith Unlimited; with all of them expressing the hope that next year’s polo event will be an even bigger success.

Reach for Recovery is an organisation focused on assisting women to regain some of the self-esteem they have been deprived of by breast cancer.
