Copper cable theft lands men in cuffs

MIDRAND - Thanks to a tip-off from a Glen Austin community member, Midrand police arrested four men for possession of a suspected stolen copper cable on 21 November.

Constable Matome Tlamela of Midrand police said, “The police were notified at about 2.30pm of the four men on the corner of West and Alsation roads.”

According to the community member, he saw a group of men on the side of the road next to a veld. When he got there he found four suspects aged between 26 and 29 years old.

He also noticed a copper cable next to the suspects and called the police. The police found the copper cable and the four suspects were immediately arrested.

“All four suspects will appear at Midrand Magistrates’ Court facing charges of possession of suspected stolen copper cable,” said Tlamela.
