House burglary halted

VORNA VALLEY- A man was arrested after allegedly burgling a house in an estate in Vorna Valley on 9 November at 10am.

The suspect allegedly entered the house and pointed what turned out to be a toy gun at the domestic worker, who was with her employer’s three-year-old son.

Midrand police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela said, “The suspect allegedly instructed the domestic worker and the child to go into a bedroom where he locked them inside. He ransacked the house and stole a laptop, with its bag, Samsung cellphones, a video camera, Blackberry cellphones, jewellery, three new men’s shirts and a sharp knife.”

Security guards patrolling the estate apprehended the suspect when he tried to jump over a wall. “A sector vehicle patrolling the area attended to the incident and arrested the suspect. All stolen items were recovered and no one was injured,” said Tlamela.

The suspect will soon appear in court facing charges of house robbery.
