Encouraging entrepreneurship

JOBURG - Awethu Project, a Braamfontein-based company that was co-founded by entrepreneur, Yusuf Randera-Rees in 2009 after he recognised the need in South Africa for SMME funding programmes, is looking to grow your business.

The company, which began with only R60 000 in start-up capital, has expanded to a multi-million rand organisation in a matter of only six years.

It is the vision of the company to be a part of the successes of start-up companies, and their latest campaign will see Awethu’s small business SME venture capital fund investing up to R5 million and they want all bold entrepreneurs to apply.

“We are looking for entrepreneurs with businesses that need to reach the next level,” said Randera-Rees.

“This is for those who are seeking financial and operational support to grow their business, without giving up control. The Awethu Project will partner with them.

“Not many incubators are willing to take early-stage risks, but Awethu is! We will not just give you a cheque and send you on your way. This is an opportunity for you to get operational support, providing you with a comprehensive finance back-office, admittance to the Awethu Academy for practical personal development, and access to our extensive business development networks,” said the co-founder.

The company is making it even easier for start-up companies to prosper in their industry by assisting them with everything from recruitment and BEE, to labour law and even the marketing of the business.

It is thanks to funding from the Government’s Jobs Fund and Discovery, as well as support from Archbishop Desmond Tutu, that Awethu can offer life-changing opportunities for entrepreneurs who have ambition and talent but lack training and funding.
