Rotary Club of Kyalami hosts Halloween JoZombie trail run

KYALAMI - The Rotary Club of Kyalami hosted a Halloween event called the JoZombie trail run to raise awareness about polio and to raise funds for the End Polio Now campaign which took place on World Polio Day on 24 October.

Event organiser and club secretary, Martine Garrioch said, “We had a 5km and 10km trail run with a Halloween theme to raise money for the worldwide fight against polio, and other local charities. Participants also enjoyed some entertainment and spent time at the Farmers Market after the race.”

She added that the event raised R1 000 which would go towards polio vaccinations which cost R8.30 a child. “This was our first trail run event,” she added.

“We hope to have one annually to raise more money for polio-affected countries such as Afghanistan and Pakistan.”

The Rotary Club of Kyalami would like to thank SOS Wellness in Glen Austin for providing the venue, Coca-Cola for donating cool drinks for participants, and all the people who participated in the event and their financial contribution.
