Stolen shoes land men in court

HALFWAY HOUSE – Two suspects aged 24 and 21 were arrested by Midrand police on 29 October at about 9pm.

The men were caught at a shopping centre in Halfway House with shoes suspected to have been stolen from a clothing store.

Constable Matome Tlamela of Midrand Police Station said they received a complaint from the security control room of the shopping centre which alerted police to the men’s whereabouts and the alleged theft.

When police arrived at the scene the store’s security officers had already apprehended the suspects. “They pointed out the two suspects to the police officers who immediately made the arrests,” she said.

The suspects were in possession of four pairs of shoes valued at R500.

“The suspects will appear in court to face charges of possession of suspected stolen property,” said Tlamela.
