Queen for a day

JOBURG – A group of young girls who are battling life-threatening illnesses were ushered to the Hamilton Hotel by the Reach for a Dream Foundation for a day of gifts, high tea and many other fun activities.

Themed, Queen for a day, the little ladies were treated to beautiful face painting and mini-manicures before arts and craft making continued outside with volunteers of independent financial planning company, Chartered Wealth Solutions.

Holly Petersen, representative of the company, stated that Reach for a Dream was chosen to be the beneficiary for their corporate social investment project because their values coincide with that of the company’s director, Kim Potgieter.

“Her whole philosophy in life is dreaming big,” said Petersen of Potgieter. “She recently launched a book titled Retiremeant and all proceeds from the book went to Reach for a Dream. [Potgieter] said the dreams of these children were in line with what she believed in.”

Owner of Hamilton Hotel, Gail Hamilton-Brown, was thrilled to be hosting the young girls on the day.

“We’ve been hosting this for two years now,” said Hamilton-Brown.

“It’s great to be part of this initiative, especially when it comes to this time of year when we really need to think about those less fortunate than ourselves.”

After high tea was served, the little ladies were taught how to strut their stuff on the red carpet by beauty queen Jessica Tovey and each one had the opportunity to sit on the Hamilton throne to be crowned with their own tiara.
