Poplar pupils and workers share pizza

MIDRAND - There is nothing quite like a pizza and a cold drink after a hard day's work.

That is what the children of Poplar Academy realised when their school recently bought and gifted the workers who were revamping their school’s stairs.

With the recent heat wave that swept across Gauteng, principal Lizelle Naude said the men deserved to cool off. “October is National Pizza Month, so [it was appropriate for us to provide lunch and cool drink],” said Naude.

She said it was important for the pupils to realise the value of hard work and to give recognition to the men for their role in their school. “The stairs that they have built lead to the sports field and we just wanted to put smiles on their faces,” she said.
