loveLife Leadership Academy to be launched

JOBURG– loveLife, the national youth leadership development organisation, is a month away from launching its new loveLife Leadership Academy, which aims to help young South Africans find work.

Youth unemployment is often described as the biggest risk to social stability in our country. According to Statistics SA’s recently released youth labour market report, youth unemployment has worsened since 2008. Today, as many as 3.6 million young South Africans are unemployed and seek work.

In order to help alleviate this, the new loveLife Trust has established and registered the loveLife Leadership Academy. The academy will collaborate with big business in the hope of providing youth with the skills they need in order to receive greater work opportunities.

The academy will also provide educational programmes and solutions to businesses which struggle to support skills development, job creation, poverty alleviation and economic development.

“We have the audacious goal of having 40 000 young people trained with skills and qualifications that enable them to access opportunities available in future, employment and entrepreneurship by 2020,” said chairwoman of the loveLife Leadership Academy’s advisory board, Basetsana Kumalo.

Treaty Moshoeshoe, loveLife Leadership Academy’s managing director said, “We want to provide solutions that are both visible and measureable. The academy encourages businesses to partner with us and help contribute to the creation of a conducive business environment in the long-term and sustained economic growth.”

The academy launch will take place at the Maslow Hotel, Sandton, on 13 November, and loveLife board members, the loveLife team, youth members, as well as opinion leaders will be in attendance.
