Theft suspects arrested

MIDRAND - Two men were arrested on charges of theft on 7 October.

The men are accused by the owner of a plumbing material distribution business of stealing three lintels. A lintel is used in construction to give support to a structure such as a door or window.

According to Midrand police, the owner had just sold some items to the men and loaded it up in their white Hyundai bakkie. He went inside his business premises before the men drove off. While inside, another customer rushed in and told him to go outside and check the contents of the bakkie.

He went outside, and fortunately for him, the men were still at the security gate leaving the premises. With the help of security personnel, the owner searched the bakkie and found that the men had taken three lintels.

“He also checked his stock and found that indeed three lintels were missing,” said Constable Matome Tlamela, head of communications at the station. She added that police were called in immediately and the suspects were arrested for theft.
