Cops hunt for two women

MIDRAND - Two women escaped from security guards after stealing a laptop from a unit in a Midrand complex.

Midrand police were called to the scene but the women had already left.

Police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela said, “According to security guards at the complex, the women ran off and left behind a handbag full of keys – allegedly copies of complex unit keys – and a laptop. It is alleged that the women left in a BMW that was parked outside the complex.”

Tlamela added that the owner of the laptop, which was recovered, refused to open a case. An eyewitness who alerted Midrand Reporter to the crime and wanted to remain anonymous, alleged that when security guards tried to stop the women from getting away, a man waiting for them outside the complex pointed a gun at them, stopping them from further pursuit.

Police are looking for the two women for questioning with regards to the crime.
