Segway mobility vehicles to be the future of Sandton

SANDTON – The Segway personal mobility vehicles are expected to be the future of traveling in Sandton.

This according to reports which state that these two-wheeled, self-balancing, battery-powered electric scooters are being paraded in Sandton during October for the Ecomobility Festival.

The City of Johannesburg Executive Mayor Parks Tau has been spotted within Sandton riding on one of these scooters. He kicked off the festival on 1 October in Sandton and arrived at a media brief on a Segway scooter.

According to media reports, climbing onto a Segway for the first time makes one feel like they have sea legs and the good thing about the scooters is that they are very difficult to fall off.

Media reports also state that the City of Johannesburg and the Department of Transport have yet to grant permission for the scooters to be used on the roads.
