The deceased went to a tavern on the evening of 19 September with her friend. On arrival, they found the suspect at a table drinking. The women ended up sharing a table with him and drank together. According to police, the deceased allegedly left the tavern with the suspect in the early hours of 20 September.
Ivory Park police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said, “The father of the deceased reported her missing on 20 September and stated that it was rumoured that she left with a man. Police investigated and discovered the address of the suspect, which was in Ivory Park Ext 9, and went there with the father of the deceased.”
Sekgobela explained that police found the woman dead inside the suspect’s room, which was locked with a padlock. The deceased was found naked on the bed with bruises around her neck.
The suspect was nowhere to be found. Police are investigating the matter and appeal to anyone who might have information to come forward.
