Woman pretends to make EFT then steals man’s car

IVORY PARK - A man expecting to sell his used vehicle for R60 000 in Kaalfontein Ext 7, did not receive the desired outcome when he was robbed of his car by a woman pretending to be an interested buyer.

Ivory Park police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, said the woman allegedly disappeared with the car, a Renault Megane with the registration number VDN799GP.

“The unknown woman allegedly took out her cellphone and pretended to transfer the money through cellphone banking. After a few minutes, the complainant received a message from his cellphone that an amount of R60 000 was transferred into his account,” said Sekgobela.

The victim handed over the car keys, as well as the papers for the vehicle to the woman, who then drove off. However, later, when the complainant went to the bank to withdraw some of the money, he found no funds in his account.

Police appeal to anyone who has information regarding the suspect to come forward with information, or contact Ivory Park Police Station on 011 990 9600.

Investigations are underway.
