Domestic Watch lessons for Sun Valley residents this month

SUN VALLEY - Making A Difference (Mad) will provide a Domestic Watch lesson for Sun Valley domestic workers and gardeners on 17 September at La Fiorentiana Restaurant on the corner of Champion and Bridle Pass roads.

The interactive lesson will allow attendees to contribute what they have learnt in life and to share good and bad crime stories which will reinforce what to do and what not to do when encountering crime. “Some good stories, but for some, very hard lessons had to be learned. I will add substantially with current trends and an array of crime techniques,” said Penny Steyn, found of Mad.

She said the best part of the lesson is when the attendees tell her they have applied what Bonnie Friedman, the presenter of all crime prevention lessons, has taught them and have averted a crime horror.

The lessons cost R40 per person, Steyn said, and no one is turned away if employers are unable or not prepared to pay for the crime prevention lessons.

“Police always attend whenever possible to add valuable information, and special guest speakers are invited to cover certain important topics,” she said.

Refreshments will served and the organisation would appreciate any contribution towards these.

Meetings start promptly at 11am following a registration period at 10.45am. Lessons are one hour.
