Joburg Shopping Festival comes to Sandton City

JOBURG – This year’s Joburg Shopping Festival was recently launched at The Maslow in Sandton.

Guests and the media were invited to find out what will be in store for this year’s ultimate shopping experience.

Visitors from the rest of Africa and the world have been invited to come to Joburg and experience the festival from 24 September to 3 October. Founder and CEO of the Joburg Shopping Festival, James Delaney said the festival aimed to grow local retail trade.

“We are in the best position in Africa to have this festival in Joburg,” added Delaney. “We have the best flight network and the people that come here will be looked after.”

Sandton City, Rosebank Mall, the Oriental Plaza and Eastgate Shopping Centre are the four malls that will offer unmatched deals to local and international buyers shopping at the malls during the festival.

The festival will showcase the best retail and lifestyle offerings, including the Joy of Jazz Festival which will also take place concurrently with the Joburg Shopping Festival. The City’s Department of Economic Development and Joburg Tourism are also participating in the festivities.

Delaney said the festival had been modelled on the Dubai shopping experience, which had shown that an event of this nature could have enormous positive impact on the local economy of the country, as well as job creation.

He added that not only would the festival boost the economy in the hospitality and retail sectors, but also in manufacturing, transport and wholesale as well as the Gauteng economy at every level.
