Kyalami Combined School learns about safety

KYALAMI - Midrand police in conjunction with Metro police and the Midrand Police Station's Youth Desk recently visited Kyalami Combined School.

The police addressed pupils on bullying, human trafficking, the use of illegal substances and crime prevention measures at the school.

“The two-hour motivational talk was aimed at implementing the school’s safety plan,” said Constable Nanti Belebesi, social crime prevention co-ordinator at the station.

“Pupils were taught about the relationship between the police and the school.”

However, the talk was not just about guarding against criminal elements, as the children were also taught about protecting themselves from bad choices.

“They were told about the dangers of taking drugs and the consequences that may result by breaking the law in this manner,”

Belebesi said.

“We aim to strengthen the relationship between the school and the police, and with other relevant stakeholders. The school management, in this case, appreciated our visit.”
