Buccleuch man found guilty of double murder

BUCCLEUCH – A Buccleuch resident was found guilty by the South Gauteng High Court after he had shot and killed his wife and her sister with his licensed firearm.

Lieutenant Colonel André de Klerk from Sandton Police Station said Frans Seroba (57) was convicted on two counts of murder and sentenced to 18 years imprisonment on each count of which he has to serve 27 years.

Seroba was at his home in Buccleuch with his wife and children when he shot and killed her on 20 January 2007.

“The children did not witness the incident, but only heard gunshots,” explained De Klerk.

After shooting his wife, Seroba then dropped off his children at their grandmother in Soweto.

De Klerk added that after Seroba had left the children with the gran, he went to his wife’s sister who was in Braamfontein with her children.

“He then shot her dead too, in front of her children,” explained De Klerk.

“It is believed that he was receiving psychiatric treatment during the time of the incident.”

Seroba was traced and arrested by the Sandton police.
