Hijackers caught on camera arrested

JOBURG - Four suspects have been arrested following a hijacking incident that was caught on camera earlier this year, in May.

Following a video that surfaced of a hijacking that occurred on Main Reef Road, near the M2 on-ramp in Fordsburg, that was caught on camera, the suspects involved have been arrested.

The video was captured on the dash cam of the vehicle that was hijacked. The four armed men driving the white Jetta have been nabbed.

According Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale of the South African Police Service, the suspects involved in the hijacking were arrested on 22 July in Ga-Rankuwa.

Lieutenant Colonel Mogale said, “An unlicensed firearm was confiscated along with a watch.”

The suspects are expected to appear in Court soon facing charges of armed robbery.
