UPDATE: Taxi drivers meet to discuss routes

DIEPSLOOT - The protest which took place earlier on 15 July has reportedly died down but taxi drivers have now gathered at the corner of Main and Summit Roads, near Diepsloot.

The taxi drivers are reportedly meeting to discuss routes.

The meeting has been peaceful so far and metro police and Midrand police are on scene to monitor the situation.

According to an eyewitness, no shots were fired during the earlier protest but two vehicle windows were broken.

There is reportedly a protest taking place between taxi associations just outside Diepsloot.

The protest seems to be about route disputes and is taking place at near the intersection of the R511 and Summit Road, outside Diepsloot.

Some commuters have reported that shots were fired.

There is also reportedly a large police presence in the area currently.

A reporter is on her way to the protest.

The protest comes a day after a taxi driver was allegedly shot, just outside Diepsloot.

There was also a drive-by shooting incident between two taxi drivers on 13 July in Woodmead.
