Midrand CPF executive committee elected

MIDRAND - Nominations were made for the executive committee of the Midrand Community Police Forum at an elective meeting held at Midrand Police Station.

Three nominations were made from each of the five sectors, and in total 15 people were elected to the forum’s executive committee.

Cluster chairman Alberto Pontiggia said, “The incoming committee has a huge task ahead, but we know they can take the responsibility passed on to them by the outgoing committee whom we thank for their service and time.”

A representative from the MEC for Community Safety’s office, Thabo Thipe, urged the community and the crime forum to continue working together with police to combat crime.

Ward 93 councillor Annette Deppe, one of the councillors in attendance at the election said, “While a new committee has been elected for the next five years, there are outstanding issues from Sector 4 that still need to be resolved.”

Deppe urged all parties to put their differences aside and serve the community in the best interest of the public. “We have to fight for more resources for these sectors to fight criminals who are terrorising our communities.”

Midrand station commander Colonel Steven Moodley and other councillors were among the attendees at the meeting who observed the nominations.
