Nokuphila School children receive books

MIDRAND - FILTER Focus, a company that provides solutions to improve plant and asset protection and the mobile library and book supplier, Qualibooks, donated 140 books to Nokuphila School in Midrand.

Nokuphila has pupils from Grade 1 to 4 and relies on donors to provide for children in need who attend the school.

Filter Focus’ chief operating officer, Craig Fitzgerald, said the donation is a worthwhile cause that the company plans to put its full backing behind.

He said, “This initiative is very close to our hearts, as our goal is to bring socio-economic development through education.”

Fitzgerald stressed that children need to have a proper education, as that is where the future of the country lies. He urged corporates to join in investing in this valuable and rewarding project of providing books for the betterment of South Africa.

Qualibooks business developer Kingsley Kruger said, “We realised that there is a big need for proper socio-economic development and enterprise development projects where the business owner can actually see where their money goes in terms of involvement in corporate social investments projects.”

Nokuphila School principal Marj Lund expressed gratitude for the donation, and said the books would promote literacy and increase the children’s vocabulary. She said, “Reading is an essential part of the school curriculum and vital to learning. Nokuphila is very grateful for the generous donation of a mobile library. The children’s reading prowess and general knowledge will improve dramatically as a result.”

Lund indicated that many of the children at the school have limited access to exciting and stimulating reading material, and this donation will fill that need.
