Safety talk at Nokuphila Pre-School

PRESIDENT PARK - According to Midrand police, they, Emergency Medical Services and Metro police, recently visited Nokuphila Pre-School to discuss safety with the children.

The two-hour event was aimed at addressing issues that children may face but do not have the platform to address.

“The children were taught about bullying, their rights, road safety, firefighting, being alert around strangers, emergency numbers and childline numbers,” said the police’s social crime prevention officer, Constable Nanti Belebesi.

She said she believed they had a fruitful exercise at the school. “We reached about 150 children from Grade 00 to Grade R.”

Children were also advised to know their parents’ names, residential addresses and cellphone numbers. Belebesi said it is also important that parents show their children where the nearest police station is.

Belebesi said with children, work always turns into play. “They were very happy to meet the police and we would be grateful to visit them again.”
