Beautiful inside and out.

MIDRAND - MIDRAND resident Natasha Joseph is one of the contestants in a unique beauty pageant in South Africa.

Ms. South Africa National Beauty Pageant is a national pageant designed to offer women who are either single, engaged, divorced, widowed or married wishing to be in a ‘no swim wear’ pageant. Entrants must be between the ages of 25 to 55 years and it gives them the opportunity to share their knowledge and beauty through volunteer work.

Joseph said it had been an honour and a privilege to have been picked as a finalist. “The exposure is phenomenal,” she said. “It is important to realise that we are all beautiful, inside and out.”

She said she entered the competition because she wanted to see what society classified as beautiful. “Does beautiful always have to be a size 8? In the Ms. South Africa National pageant they proved that beauty is so much more than just the size of your waist.”

Joseph has enjoyed her experience in the pageant so far. “I have been to an airline launch. Something I never would have known about if I wasn’t a finalist in this pageant.

“There are only 18 of us now,” said Joseph speaking on her chances of taking the crown. “Eliminations come at the end of July, but one needs to get sponsors for the amount of R25 000.”

She said businesses could sponsor her for any amount and in return she would be their brand ambassador, regardless if she won or not. People may also vote for her using her unique competition number.

“I also have a R50 raffle running for a lucky couple to win a set of double tickets to the crowning event at Vodaworld on 20 September, with one night hotel accommodation included.”

Joseph said young girls who wished to enter beauty pageants must remember to live their lives. “Do what you want to do. Never let anyone tell you that you cannot do it. You are the ultimate person responsible for your happiness.”
