Many join Ivory Park police’s anti-crime campaign

IVORY PARK - IVORY Park police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said Ivory Park police, the Community Policing Forum, councillors, the Department of Community Safety and Metro police joined together to fight crime in the area.

Traditional healers and non-governmental organisation Nqambothi also joined the campaign at the Ivory Park Ext. 15 shopping centre.

“Ivory park Station Commander Brigadier Frank told members of the community not to condone crime by buying stolen goods just because they are cheap,” said Sekgobela.

The campaign proceeded to Kaalfontein, the Ivory Park Ext. 2 taxi rank and on to Swazi Inn shopping complex where councillor Pearl Nodikane and traditional healer Violet Nkowane spoke to the community about criminal behaviour and drug use which was destroying young people’s lives.

Metro police officer Sergeant Malose Mabuela appealed to taxi operators to ensure that their vehicles were roadworthy and their drivers had licences.

The Department of Community Safety representative, Duncan Sibuyi urged the community to report crime.
