Alex author talks about her book in Sandton

SANDTON - South African authors will have all their hours of blood, sweat and toil recognised in May when Africa Month is celebrated.

Johannesburg residents will get a chance to ask their favourite local authors about the real stories behind their latest books as they celebrate Africa Month.

The red carpet is being rolled out courtesy of the City of Johannesburg Library and Information Services and a series of book talks in celebration of Africa Month kicks off on 23 May.

Sandton Library will host gender activist and social entrepreneur, Lebo Pule who will chat about her book, Alone, which is a candid memoir by a girl who grew up in Sandton’s teeming Alexandra township.

Alone paints a disturbing picture of a society which preys on its own young females. Pule will be at the library on 29 May from 6pm to 8pm.
