Ivory Park police arrest 65 suspects

IVORY PARK -  Police arrested 65 suspects over the Freedom Day long weekend.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said, “Twenty-six suspects were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. The suspects were arrested by Ivory Park police on a special operation together with members of the Saps Provincial Head Office.”

Sekgobela added that 18 of the suspects were arrested for public drinking. “The rest were arrested for various crimes such as possession of dagga, malicious damage to property, common robbery, assault, shoplifting and others were illegal immigrants,” she said.

Twenty seven suspects will appear will appear in Tembisa Magistrates’ Court, while the others will appear at various courts to face their charges.

The arrests took place between 24 and 27 April.
