No injuries in helicopter crash at Grand Central Airport

MIDRAND - FOLLOWING reports that a South African Police Service helicopter crashed at Grand Central Airport on the morning of 4 May, the airport manager, Gary Renault, has confirmed that there was an incident involving a helicopter landing.

Renault added, “Fortunately no injury or loss of life has occurred. We can not immediately confirm if the company involved was the South African police, but we will keep the public informed once we are able to do so.”

Midrand police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela said no reports of a plane crash have been made at the Midrand Police Station at the time of the inquiry on the matter.

There have been reports that a police helicopter has crashed at the Grand Central Airport in Midrand.

We have received reports of a SAPS helicopter that has allegedly crashed at the Grand Central Airport in Midrand.

Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said she is unaware of the crash and will follow up.
