Stopping hunger and building character

RABIE RIDGE - With no more reward than wide smiles and excited laughter, Sunninghill Community Residents' Association distributed Stop Hunger Now food packs to three creches in Rabie Ridge.

The staff of Rawson Properties Paulshof distributed the food packs on behalf of the association and took time out to get to know their beneficiaries.

Kerry Mawson of Rawson Properties explained that the Sunninghill Community has been supporting the Little Saints, Vrolike Vienkies and Kinderjoy creches in Rabie Ridge for more than three years. Using a portion of the money they collect from the community, the association purchases food packs from Stop Hunger Now and makes monthly donations to the creches.

By supplying the creches with the nutritious food packs, which consist of rice, dehydrated vegetables and soya, the creche owners no longer need to purchase ingredients to make meals for the children. This means that over the years, they have been able to save money to invest back into their creches. One creche managed to extend the height of their perimeter wall, thereby increasing security while another saved up enough money to construct a toilet and washroom for their pupils.
