Mall of Africa to open in April 2016

WATERFALL CITY - Next year, the much awaited Mall Of Africa in Midrand will be open for business.

According to property developer Atterbury, construction at the mall is going well and most of the allocated shop already has prospective tenants.

Tenants and media were recently invited to a tour of the iconic new 131 000 m² shopping centre. Director of retail at Atterbury, Cobus van Heerden said, “The mall has generated such high interest and it has not even been completed yet. Mall visitors can expect the best of high-end shopping once opened on 28 April 2016.”

Tia Kanakakis, partner at MDS Architects and designer of the mall, took prospective tenants through the calibre of shop-front designs. She added, “We will go through all the submissions, we expect only to work with the best designs.”

Atterbury’s director of leasing, Mareli Vorster said, “We are excited about the mall and that everything is on track. ”

The mall will host 6 500 parking bays and will delight shoppers with a great shopping experience which will include a champagne bar.

A Midrand resident Thoko Sibiya told Midrand Reporter that she is looking forward to the mall’s opening. She said, “When I drive to work on Allandale Road I can see the construction at the mall. I look forward to whatever new opportunities it will bring for people of Midrand.”
