Three horses die in stable fire

GLENFERNESS – A fire broke out at Phaeton Park Stables in Glenferness on 21 April leaving three horses dead and one person in hospital.

According to Natalie Hogg of the stables, the fire broke out in the afternoon of 21 April. Investigations are now underway to determine the cause of the fire.

The stables wished to thank their grooms, clients, neighbours and friends for their courage and speediness in averting what could have been a horrific disaster.

Unfortunately, the three horses did not survive the smoke inhalation and one of the stable’s clients was hospitalised for minor burns caused while helping the horses out of their stables. Hogg said the loss of the horses was devastating.

She said all the other horses were healthy and doing very well. Some horses had to spend the night outdoors, but they will be housed in the remaining stables and some neighbouring stables while the damaged stable is being rebuilt.

Phaeton Park also commended the fire department for their professional support in fighting the fire.
