Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said, “We have had constant reports of house robberies at the station. At this point, we can not release any figures, but ask that residents be alert.”
The community is being warned of suspects who quickly break down doors using powerful housebreaking implements. People are also advised to install burglar doors to improve their security.
Take the following safety precautions:
- Turn on security lights outside the house to improve visibility
- Make sure that you are not visible in the house from the outside when the lights are on inside
- Close all doors and the windows before you sleep
- Use dogs as deterrents
- Clear the areas around the gates of bushes and other places that may be used for hiding.
