Changing the world 20 IT scholarships at a time

MIDRAND - Change The World IT Academy in Midrand is offering 20 scholarships for IT studies to anyone who is unemployed.

The academy previously gave away 30 scholarships, and they said due to the overwhelming response to their first call, they decided to increase the number.

“The goal of these scholarships is to give life-changing opportunities to young people who display a keen interest IT, but most importantly, the ambition to empower themselves and those around them through technology,” said Faith Muyengwa, a trainer at the academy.

The academy initially made the scholarships available to 30 underprivileged Midrand youth. They are now calling for 20 more aspiring IT students.

“We were successful in our first call for applications. We are now looking at extending this call to other youths and offer them places in the Training Academy for PC Basics and the IT Technician (A+) course, which is accredited internationally with the Cisco Networking Academy,” said Muyengwa.

Muyengwa said the benefit of these scholarships is that students will get a chance to be exposed to real-life situations, learn about office behaviour and expectations, and get the exposure needed to become a professional.

She also said top students get an opportunity to do internships at the academy’s IT centres and further their knowledge in the industry.

“If this opportunity interests you, then get in touch with us today and help us change your world,” said Muyengwa.
