Boulders Mall commits act of love

MIDRAND - The Boulders Shopping Centre in Midrand recently sponsored R50 000 worth of stationery, school shoes and uniforms, and food supplies to assist Acts of Love, a Midrand charity organisation.

The items were donated in order to aid the organisation with its Educare Learner Support programme on 5 February.

The organisation is responsible for taking care of over 10 charity campaigns in the Midrand area; the educational programme is one of these. It is designed to provide educational support to orphans and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The programme also provides assistance to pupils who struggle with core subjects such as maths and English, by providing additional weekly classes. These classes are offered by current and former teachers who volunteer their own time to help pupils.

The pupils are transported from Tembisa to Midrand every Saturday to a community hall where they receive lessons from 9am to 11am. The focus is on Grade 6 to Grade 11 pupils.

Boulders recognised the value of this work and the need to empower the community.

“We are proud to be associated with Acts of Love and with the valuable work they are doing in the community. We hope that our contribution will assist in bettering the lives of the pupils,” said Melisandy Davids, marketing manager of the centre.
