Every little drop counts

DIEPSLOOT- AS part of World Water Day on 22 March, Xylem Water Solutions donated JoJo tanks and money to community empowerment organisation, Afrika Tikkun.

The company is a water technology provider that enables customers to transport, treat and use water efficiently. The team at Xylem hosted an education show about water conservation for pre-schoolers at the Wings of Life Community Centre which is a development programme under Afrika Tikkun.

“Investing in communities and skill development is a top priority for us as a company,” said the company’s regional marketing manager and communications manager for the Middle East and Africa, Henrich Louw.

He added that the company sought communities in need of assistance regarding the accessing of water sources. In an area such as Diepsloot, clean water was sometimes scarce and by providing JoJo tanks, the pupils of the school and members of the community could have access to water.

“The relationship with Afrika Tikkun allows us to do this in a way we know will be sustainable and manageable,” said Louw.

“We decided to help lay the foundation of water conservation through this fun-filled day. The children here today will be faced with fresh water challenges in years to come.”

Head of development, marketing and communications at Afrika Tikkun, Onyi Nwaneri was delighted by the children’s response to the show. She was grateful for the donation of the water tanks and water education the youth will benefit immensely.
