Man wins 1969 VW Beetle

MIDRAND - Zweli Mnyandu won a 1969 cherry-red Volkswagen Beetle.

“I never thought I’d be driving a beetle,” said an excited Mnyandu. He said he could hear that it was a vintage by the sound it makes, however, it was a comfortable ride.

“I need to take the car to my home town of Durban to have it blessed,” he said.

Mnyandu is a long-time customer of Volkswagen Barons Bruma, with a 15-year track record, and on 20 February his loyalty was greatly rewarded.

Three car dealerships, Soweto Volkswagen, Barons Bruma and Barons Woodmead decided to reward their service clients by running the three-month Summer Lovin’ competition.

“It is a result of their army of fans that the three Johannesburg-based Volkswagen dealerships embarked on an exciting campaign to not only thank their customers for their ongoing support, but to also reward them for taking great care of their deserving Volkswagen vehicles,” wrote the dealerships’ representative, Megan Bell.

Barons Bruma was the location of the event to mark the official handover of this vintage classic to the lucky competition winner.

The ecstatic Mnyandu couldn’t wait to take his new wheels for a test drive and rode off in his stunning car.
