Youth leader constructs his legacy

JOBURG - Sandton resident, Zareef Minty (21) who was nominated for the Mail & Guardian's 200 Young South Africans 2014 initiative, is building his empire.

He has been working on a motivational book titled Empire for two years and plans to release it in April this year.

“When I was younger I did not have a role model that was in my age group, someone that I could look up to,” he said. “I want to be that person that youngsters can look up to and say, ‘If he is doing it, I can do it’.”

Minty said the book provided the solutions to young people’s problems. “Each chapter is aimed at shaping the mindsets of youngsters, building confidence and encourages ambition,” he explained. The book is a 25-chaptered manual that includes a six week challenge aimed at improving the way one thinks.

He wants to promote the book independently and get as many influential people as possible to be involved. He said he drew a lot of his inspiration from DJ Sbu who had also recently released a book independently. Sbu is a renowned business man and has devoted himself to helping others achieve their dreams.

Minty wants youngsters to be a part of the journey of releasing the book in April. He will be speaking at various schools, giving talks and holding seminars to discuss the book, and sharing his wisdom and experiences as a youth leader.
