Nurse injured in accident

MIDRAND - A taxi driver was arrested for fleeing from the scene of an accident after he bumped into a Nissan Tida at the intersection of Old Pretoria Main and Marlboro Road on 8 February.

Johannesburg Metro police department spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said the Nissan vehicle was driven by a 59-year-old nurse, who was on her way to work on the morning on 8 February just after 5am. Minnaar said, “The nurse was seriously injured and was taken to Life Carstenhof Clinic in Midrand. The taxi owner was ordered to hand over his drivers license, which he did so that he could get his taxi out of the JMPD pound.”

The clinic’s spokesperson Karabo Motsoagae confirmed that the nurse was at the clinic. He said, “The patient has been stabilised, she is being treated for a pelvis fracture.”

The driver will appear in Wynberg Magistrates’ Court soon for reckless and negligent driving, as well as, for a hit-and-run.
