The cultural events will officially begin on 27 January and continue with performances all around Joburg, with the opening ceremony being held on 25 January at the Linder Auditorium with a concert titled One Heart, One Mind, One Waltz – Viennese New Year’s Concert.

The line-up is filled with major international and local performers, orchestra’s, quartets and soloists.

The festival will not only be made up of musical concerts and recitals, but also workshops, master-classes and musical installations.

This year the festival will commemorate the 259th birthday of the famed composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, through the eyes of popular conductor Richard Cock at the helm as music director, and concert pianist Florian Uhlig as artistic director.

The festival also aims to place emphasis on educational initiatives for the musical and artistic youth of South Africa.
