Theft out of motor vehicles still a problem in Midrand

MIDRAND - Theft out of motor vehicles is still a problem in the area.

Constable Matome Tlamela referred to two cases that occurred on 6 and 7 January. She said, “In the first case of theft out of motor vehicle at Crowthorne shopping centre, the complainant said she parked her vehicle and closed all windows and locked doors before leaving the vehicle.”

When the woman returned to her vehicle she opened the car boot to put in some groceries and was surprised to find that her two laptops were missing. There was no sign of forced entry to the vehicle and the value of stolen property is unknown.

“Another case was reported at Midway Mews shopping centre,” said Tlamela. “The complainant parked her vehicle and used a remote control to lock her vehicle. Upon return she realised that her vehicle’s back door was open and the alarm lights were flashing.”

Upon further investigation the complainant noticed that her Dell laptop with an estimated value of R8 000 was stolen. Police are busy investigating both cases and hope to bring the suspects to book.
