Midrand police ready to tackle community’s criminals

MIDRAND - Police Station commander, Colonel Steven Moodley, has happily presented the station's plans for this year.

“A prudent budget combined with challenging, but achievable, priorities will go a long way to realising this aim,” Moodley said.

Moodley said he worked closely with the cluster commander Major General Vincent Leshabane and with other partners, and carried out a survey within the community in order to create a realistic plan.

He termed the plan as the Police Operational Plan.

“There are financial challenges ahead, not just for the police service, but for our partners in the Community Safety and Criminal Justice System,” he said.

In terms of policing within the area, the commander said he will engage the community by listening to them and reflecting on their views. “I will help to bring about improvements in the design and delivery of policing and the community safety and criminal justice system, challenging the police to deliver a quality service that meets individual and community needs.”

Moodley said the plan was not just about policing, “I will challenge and support Midrand police to embrace and promote equality and diversity within its workforce.”

He said they will look into improving the delivery of front line services, the accessibility and deliverance of protection, and security and quality services.

“I was appointed to this role to bring the public to the forefront of policing – to engage and to listen.”
