VIDEO: Midrand family robbed

MIDRAND - It was reported that a Midrand man, Kris Chiwanza, and his children were robbed at gunpoint on Monday night in front of the gate of the complex they live in.

The suspects allegedly stole R20 000 and some electronic devices.

Chiwanza’s wife who was driving behind him turned around and drove off to report the unfolding crime at Midrand Police Station. It is alleged that Midrand police told her to wait in a long queue to report the crime which required quick police action.

Midrand police apparently then went to the scene of the crime after the criminals had fled. A case of robbery has been opened.

It was further reported that Chiwanza believed the police may have tipped off the robbers as to the items in his vehicle when he was stopped and his vehicle was searched at a road block earlier that day.

Midrand Reporter is awaiting comment on the incident from provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.
