Baby Naidoo fights her way out on Boxing Day, 4 days shy of due date

Waterfall- Mother and father Manesh Somiah-Naidoo and Vinod Naidoo welcome the birth of their baby daughter at the Netcare Waterfall City Hospital.

Baby Naidoo was born on Boxing Day at 00:25, after Somiah-Naidoo experienced 13 hours of labour. She said being that it was her first child she wanted to have a natural birth. An understandably tired Somiah-Naidoo, jokingly told Fourways Review that during the gruelling 13 hours of contractions she was tempted to opt for a caesarean birth instead.

Both parents announced their joy for the arrival of the new-born. At the time the Naidoo family spoke to Fourways Review, Baby Naidoo was yet to be given a name. According to Hindu religion which is practiced by both parents, a baby is given a name by a guru through an astrological reading, based on what the date and time at which it is born.

Baby Naidoo was due for arrival on 30 December. The family said they were preparing a Christmas lunch when she went into labour. Somiah-Niadoo said, “We left a whole bunch of people at our house.” Proud grandparents from both families were present at the birth and were equally ecstatic at the early arrival of the baby girl.
“It hasn’t quiet hit me yet”, she said. The doting father joked that now that he has a daughter he had best save up because girls are high maintenance
