MIDRAND - A man opened a case of robbery with a firearm at Midrand Police Station.

On 4 November, the man had been driving along New Road. He claimed that he had just passed the Engen petrol station when a white Volkswagon Golf blocked his way at the traffic lights.

Two men got out of their car and entered his car. One sat in the front passenger seat whilst the other sat in the back. The man seated in the back pointed a gun at him and the one in front told him to follow the golf.

Whilst driving they asked him if his car had a tracking device, he didn’t answer them. They then asked if he was a police officer as he was being too calm for their liking. He still remained silent.

He drove until the Jan Smuts Avenue and Empire Road off-ramp. They then demanded he stop and they got out of the car.

The man alleged that they took a bag from the car that contained an ID book and a Samsung Note 3.

Constable Matome Tlamela, head of communications at the Midrand police said the case was being investigated.
