Avoid being hurt during a burglary

MIDRAND - Police said people can reduce the chances of getting hurt during a burglary.

Midrand police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela said residents must:

  •  Remember that your life is more valuable than your possessions
  •  When you hear a noise outside, don’t go out to check, rather call the sector vehicle for assistance
  •  Do not resist, especially if the attacker has a weapon
  •  Do not try to be a hero, you will be killed
  •  Obey instructions given by the intruder, do not question them
  •  When the suspects have left, do not touch anything until the police has arrived to take finger prints
  •  To avoid being burglared make your home appear as if there is someone there while you are away. If you have someone you trust, let them go to the house to check if things are okay and take mail or paper from the gate.
