Lights will soon grace developing areas in Midrand

In a statement, Johannesburg member of the mayoral committee for Environment and Infrastructure, councillor Matsidiso Mfikoe said the roll out of the new public lighting systems will not only uplift Midrand, but it will also make it safe.

“City Power, which uses ‘long lasting and energy-efficient high pressure sodium lamps’, will spend more than R2 million in the current financial year to provide public lighting systems in Randjespark, President Park and Mafelandawonye. These areas currently do not have lights.”

Mfikoe stated that the expenditure is “..part of a R30 million budget allocated under the entity’s citywide Public Lighting programme, which is a multi-year venture for developing areas in Midrand”.
